We believe in God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the highest revelation of God, our Saviour and Lord. He is one with his Father in heaven but took on a human nature, both revealing God to us, as never before, and opening the way of salvation. Jesus won the way for us to be accepted by God and given a new life in him. God is now able to live in our hearts by faith, as he did in Jesus, filling us with his Holy Spirit, making us his children and equipping us to live for him,as part of his family, bearing his likeness.
We believe the Bible.
Jesus is the living Word of God. The Bible is the written word of God that tells his story. It is our authority for all things of faith, and is true and trustworthy in all it affirms. Briefly, the Bible declares and reveals that
Church is Local
St Hilda’s is made up of local people and has a local vision. We want to be of real value in the community.
Firswood: This is where our church building is sited and we want it to be a widely used local asset. We are working in partnership with the Children’s Centre to achieve this.
Gorse Hill is now part of our parish, with St Hilda’s the parish church. (It used to be St Peter’s parish and our minister lives in Gorse Hill in what was St Peter’s rectory). We look to develop ministry in Gorse Hill as much as in Firswood.
Church is International
While we do especially love Firswood and Gorse Hill, and believe that God wants us to invest our main energies here, locally, we also have a wider perspective.
The family of Christ is made up of people from all cultures and nations and is called to engage with and try to meet the needs of the world. So we also support and have connections with lots of groups working elsewhere in Manchester, the UK and overseas. We have enjoyed having Christians from other nations join us in ministry for 6 months-2 year stints including from Mexico, Peru, India, Uganda, America, Bolivia ... We specially support and seek to have links with three selected Christian mission agencies - The Message Trust, with their fantastic work in Manchester, Disaster Emergency Committee member Tear Fund for international development and relief, and Open Doors supporting Christians in many challenging situations worldwide.

Jesus is the living Word of God. The Bible is the written word of God that tells his story. It is our authority for all things of faith, and is true and trustworthy in all it affirms. Briefly, the Bible declares and reveals that
- God is love - in his love he made the entire universe with human beings special: uniquely spiritual, made in God’s image, and able to know and return his love.
- God loves every one of us and seeks our hearts.
- Despite our failures and struggles, God still wants human beings to be at peace with him.
- God has intervened to make this possible, supremely in Jesus.
- Jesus is not only fully human but also fully God - he brings God and humanity together in one.
- Jesus taught and lived a model for our lives - inspiring and challenging us. Even his death was part of his plan, in fact the focus of it. At the cross he took suffering, evil, sin and death upon himself. He did this freely and innocently, and so broke their power.
- God proved his victory by raising him from the dead.
- Jesus is the unique way to God, giving human beings eternal life.
- Eternal life begins now, with the joy and freedom of God’s Holy Spirit filling our lives and transforming us from within.
- God will raise human beings from the dead - then through our trust in Christ, we will be as he is, fully human and yet filled with all the fullness of God.
